Shirley Hills Families Enjoy Kindergarten Reading Cafe
Shirley Hills kindergarten families enjoyed the outdoor Reading Cafe.
Shirley Hills kindergarten families were invited to celebrate their children’s reading at the annual Kindergarten Reading Café on May 15. Parents came hungry for a good book as their child read them an "appetizer," and an "entree", and ended up with some yummy "dessert"!
The kindergarten students had created “menus” of their favorite books, which they shared with parents and visitors. Since it was a beautiful day, the event was moved outdoors to a picnic-style venue. Blankets dotted the school grounds, as students and parents settled down for story time.
“The kids have made amazing progress learning to read this school year, and it was wonderful to share that achievement with their families,” said kindergarten teacher Alecia Allen. “It was a great day centered around a love for reading!”
